Caregiver Consortium, Inc.
The Caregiver Consortium is a 501(c)3, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving quality of life for older adults and their caregivers in Tucson, Pima County and the surrounding region. The Consortium was founded and incorporated in 1999 with a vision to foster collaboration and partnerships with business leaders and professionals from the public and private sector that work in the health care industry, business community and not-for-profit agencies. The purpose of the Caregiver Consortium is to enhance or implement services for caregivers and older adults that strengthen the continuum of care.

We believe that our community can positively affect the quality of life for older adults and their caregivers. Believing this, we will:
- Promote public education and access to services
- Influence public policy
- Facilitate community collaboration and partnerships
- Encourage development of needed services that complete the continuum of care

The Caregiver Consortium operates with a 25-member Board of professionals from the public and private sector that meet on a monthly basis to plan activities and community events. Board members and community volunteers conduct a series of educational programs throughout the year. These programs include:
- An annual conference in May for caregivers and professionals covering in-depth topics on caregiving, health and aging.
- An annual retreat for family caregivers with a focus on spiritual renewal.
- Educational forums for professionals presented monthly to update the community on current research, trends and new information on caregiving, health and aging.
The Caregiver Consortium has also planned and developed this website as an information resource for family caregivers and professionals in Tucson and Pima County.
Goals of the Caregiver Consortium:
- Promote public education and access to services - We consider education and advocacy to be complementary processes. Therefore, our aim is to educate the following groups about caregiver issues: family caregivers, professional caregivers and administrators of services to dependent older adults in the private and public sector, healthcare, business and industry professionals specializing in human services and employee issues, and community leaders.
- Influence public policy - By educating the public on the realities and impact of caregiving, we enable individuals, organizations and the community at large to be informed citizens and to initiate positive change at the local and state level.
- Facilitate community collaboration and partnerships - The Consortium includes community professionals representing the professions mentioned above for Consortium-sponsored events. Events are designed to educate attendees and promote dialogue for improving services for caregivers and their loved ones.
- Encourage development of services that complete the continuum of care
A goal of the Consortium is to maintain a Board of Directors that is composed of individuals from both the public and private sector. Members include representatives from healthcare, social service agencies, private business and industry and higher education from both for-profit and non-profit organizations. This cross-section of Board participants and additional community representatives on Consortium events planning committees enables new ideas to emerge. These ideas are shaped into a strategic plan that results in strengthening the current continuum of healthcare and the potential development of new benefits and services for this population (older adults, caregivers and care recipients).
